Default New to TA, so what is wrong with scrub builds...

anyone?

if i wanted to design a "scrub" build, what would be wrong with running a scrub build? being a scrub as it were....

actually, from what i see, if a team is over powered and is hard to beat unless you have skill, it just means that the overpoweed scrub team is far more powerful (superior) than your "balanced" team.

at the end of the day, why isn;t balanced nerfed? i mean, if it wins a majority of the time, then clearly it is too powerful? dunno...

anyway, i am not trolling, just looking for opinions of me running my own scrub setup that i have been working on for 4v4 areas.

cheers,

i really think that's just a bad joke, but just in case it isn't..

any balanced build is only as good as its players, that means it requires coordination and playing skill to be good.

meta garbage can be ran by any newb and is really powerful even when there is zero playing skill and coordination involved.

throw talentless scrubs balanced bars, watch them struggle and fail in all circumstances. throw talentless scrubs mindless 1234567 meta garbage, watch them win.

i still want to know what is wrong with scrub builds. just because they require less talent and are seemingly overpowered, why is it not "honourable" to run anything but "Balanced"?

sorry, i am just trying to get a feel for the arena. ie. not just once or twice a month playing TA, i mean, i am looking to really get into the arena and trying to get a feel for what goes on other than getting stomped by TA specialists farming glads.

ie. in HA i know Heroway / rspike / sway / teaseway / mathway were all acceptable (not acceptable but meta) for scrubs farming their ranks so they could get into good teams... so, what is an acceptable glad rank before you can be expected to be picked up by a good team? or is it just that people don;t really play TA that much so getting a PUG is hard to do???

OP is new, so running scrub builds are a good way of getting a taste of TA and learning maps and stuff, nothing wrong with that. I only wanna advice OP to try out all kinds of stuff because it makes you better. I personally wouldn't stick to some 1 dimensional farming gimmick 24/7, because when people know your trick they will beat you.

'Honourable' doesn't exist in GW.

If you run gimmick you're a wiki scrub
If you run balanced you're a wiki scrub

go figure...

generally 5-6 (but I have seen g0 people playing with g8), you just have to play as good as you are expected to, generally people pug you just because they know your name. TA community is that small.
Your best bet to increase your rank is to get 3 other players from your guild and start playing TA consistently. If you play in American time you can have long streaks.

edit: protip: if you know a decent ranger the best build to farm is balanced.

As far as I'm concerned, I only pick up randoms if I myself know them well or if a friend invites them (so they're basically their friend), which means they can confirm the pug is an ok player and so on and so fort.
Moreover, what I also take into account is their reputation - if I or someone I play with knows that the pug wanting to join has spent the majority of their time playing in gimmicky builds, such as dual monk, hexways, eleways and the likes, I definitely wont' accept them into my team, unless they are insanely good...but if they are then they wouldnt be running gimmicks 24/7 to start with.
But at the end I can only say that trying to become part of a community that is in some cases 2 or more years old is hard as hell, so gl~

Uhm, A game is about fun. If you like to play lame builds , PLAY it. I like balanced because it involves some skill. But sometimes I run RTL etc. and I don't care about people who whine after a battle. Why do you want honour in a game? do u lose ingame reputation? and does that matter for your real life? NO.. IT'S ABOUT FUN!

The same answer as an "acceptable (insert PvP title) rank before you can be expected to be picked up by a good team."

There is none. The best groups are going to be friends-only in general, like in HA and TA. In HA, there are a lot more people so you can find r9+ as generally the "highest tier." In TA, there aren't enough pugs for there to be extremely high ranked groups outside of friend groups. If you got g8 with gothspike only, I don't think anyone is going to acknowledge you and get you for their team. If you get g5 being a ranger in a balanced build and winning most of your matches, you'll have a better chance at a good group.

Your best bet is to make friends with the better players in your group and build a network of lower-ranked friends who are just as good as the high-ranked players. You might even be able to get into some higher-ranked groups because of your newly built connections.

I'm not sure how you guys associate "scrub" with someone who runs overpowered builds. In the fighter community, a scrub is a person who constantly complains when people beat them and blames it on them using 'lame', 'dishonorable' tactics like projectile spamming, turtling, throw whoring, etc.

So in a sense, the people who complain about others beating them with scrub, dishonorable builds are the actual scrubs. Not that I'm defending RTL spike teams, just throwing that out there.

This is GWs, where manly honourable men smash cheap tactic losers. It works here because everyone whines until the stuff they can't beat gets nerfed.
